Name: |
Mistress Elizabeth Vernon
Title:
Maid of Honor to Her Majesty, the Queen of England
What family do you have with you on Progress?
I have no immediate family with me at present, which is well, for it hard enough to be governed by a queen.
Who is your chief ally on this Progress?
My fellow Maids of Honor, my Goode cousin Lady Penelope Devereux, and my dearest and inseparable companion, Mistress Anne Cecil.
Who is your enemy on this Progress?
Any lady who threatens to come between myself and the man I intend to wed.
Why are you on Progress?
I am devoted to Her Majesty, and shall do my best to follow her where she may lead. Though, in sooth, I am a woman so governed by my heart that my footing may stray from time to time.
Why are you at Court?
It is my pleasure to join Her Majesty as I am one of her Maids of Honor, and she will find me a suitable husband among the men of court (though I have mine eye set on a fyne gentle already).

Three (3) facts that we know about you and can talk or react about:
Fact1:
I am quite fond of men and love to flirt with any beauteous knave be him field hand or noble should he catch my fancy. I am not above accepting and collecting flattery, trinkets, jewelry, or favors from gentlemen, and am easily swayed by such frivolities. Rumor has it Shakespeare himself has written a sonnet in my honor, and shall be duly rewarded.
Fact2:
I have recently met Henry Wriothesley, the Earl of Southampton whom Her Grace does not approve of, but to be sure, I will have him. He is a man of many talents and ladies, but methinks I be the lady who shall tame his wylde heart. I cannot let Her Grace know of my intent, for she is not at all fond of his character and refers to him as a snake.
Fact3:
It is whispered that an undisclosed gentleman has commissioned a private portrait of me to be painted in his bedchamber wearing only my corset and under-pinings. Certes, it would be diverting if true...

What ONE thing can YOU (the actor) tell us/show us about your character that you want us to 'see' when we play off of you?:
Vernon loves to dance, gossip, attend the theatre (especially that of the wondrous Shakespeare), and be merry. Though she may not make the best decisions, she has a good heart and good intentions, and with the exception of Her Majesty, has very little cares except those of love and relationships. She intends to marry for love, though she will be sure to marry well, for she is quite fond of herself and feels she deserves a suitable title to match her wonderous charms (Countess sounds good...) and to be surrounded by material goods.
